Downtown DSM Shopping

Just like Downtown DSM, the shops and boutiques in the city are also one-of-a-kind. From vintage clothes and jewelry to screen-printed posters by local artists, you can find what you need (or just want!). Support our neighborhood business owners in the Historic East Village, Western Gateway, as well as those in neighboring areas, including the Avenues of Ingersoll and Grand or the Drake University area.

And no need to shop until you drop. The Des Moines Regional Transit Authority (DART) offers a free Downtown shuttle that runs in a loop every 10 minutes to provide service from the Historic East Village to Western Gateway.

Specialty Shops

There are also plenty of other specialty shops. Check out Ichi Bike and Des Moines Bicycle Collective for biking gear, or find unique jewelry at Leona Ruby. The Garden Shop at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden and Art Terrarium offer finds for every green thumb or aspiring green thumb.

The Historic East Village is also home to KIN, a modern mystical store, gourmet herbs and spices shop Allspice Culinarium, the runner's shop Fleet Feet Des Moines, Plain Talk bookstore, Subsect Skateshop, Bridal Boutique, Gong Fu Tea, and Jett & Monkey’s Dog Shoppe for toys, food and more for your favorite fluffy friend. Downtown DSM is even home to the famous West End Architectural Salvage, a not-to-miss stop that’s been featured on HGTV! Additionally, Funky Finds Vintage & Retro offers unique antique and vintage furniture and décor.

Markets

If you're lucky, you'll be in town during a market where you can find local artists and makers sell their work:
