Parking: Free parking is available in the city parking lot north of the Armory Building (602 Robert D. Ray Dr.). Free parking is also available in the city parking lot east of City Hall (400 Robert D. Ray Dr.). Street parking is free at all city meters after 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27. Welcome the holiday season to downtown as we Flip the Switch at Holiday Lights Des Moines on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Brenton Skating , bringing together the sights and sounds of the season.
Holiday Lights Des Moines will feature live performances, carriage rides, seasonal food vendors, and an appearance by Santa Claus from 4-7 p.m. on the evening after Thanksgiving! At 6:25 p.m. we will light up the night sky as SANTA flips the switch on a beautiful lighted tree! A fantastic fireworks display will follow the tree lighting.
Brenton Skating Plaza will also be open for public skating from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Holiday Lights Des Moines is sponsored by Prairie Meadows, Operation Downtown, Downtown Community Alliance, Brenton Skating Plaza, Lite 104.1, KIOA 93.3, and produced by Downtown Events Group. The Holiday Lights Des Moines tree was donated by The Kaldenberg's PBS Landscaping.
