Students in grades 4-9 will have the opportunity to actively engage in a series of hands-on activities geared toward personal and artistic development. Instructors will inspire a greater awareness of students’ own artistic heritage, while instilling the value of art as a means of personal and cultural expression. ArtsLive Des Moines will occur from July 26-30.

Splish, Splash, Strings! A Children's Concert with the Belin Quartet at the Central Library. Summer time fun can be wet and wild, so the Des Moines Public Library has once again teamed up with the Civic Music Association to celebrate books and music. Bring the kids (and a blanket or lawn chairs) to enjoy water-themed classical music by the Belin Quartet, a fun craft hosted by library staff, cool refreshments courtesy of Blue Bunny, and performances by Janice Baker Dancers. Join us on the library's west lawn for a wet and wild program!

Texas blues-rocker Bugs Henderson headlines at Blues on Grand, 1501 Grand in Western Gateway. "Guitar Player" Magazine has written that Henderson "should be declared a national treasure". Hear Henderson and The Shufflekings perform at 9:30PM. Cover is $10.

Grab your lunch and head to the Des Moines Central Library, 1000 Grand in Western Gateway to hear the Belin Quartet. Sponsored by Civic Music, the performance will start at 12:15PM. There is no charge.
